Scary Halloween Food - Spooky Halloween Recipes for a Night to Remember

In today's world it seems it's the kids who enjoy Halloween more than the grown ups, so having the perfect food and snacks after they have been trick or treating is a must and will keep them interested and happy all night long. There are many weird and wonderful things you can make to make the night of the witches go with a bang and they are sure to be a favorite among the children and adults too.

What better way to start of the night than with toffee apples? They are a classic having been enjoyed for countless years by kids and adults alike.

Easy Cookie Recipes For Kids

This recipe is for 12 apples or 12 guests, if you have more guests coming then use more ingredients.

Toffee Apples

Ingredients

12 Small Apples 250g White Sugar 130ml Water 2 ½ tbsp Golden Syrup ½ tsp VinegarMethod

Cover a baking tray with greaseproof paper. Wash then dry all the apples before inserting a wooden lolly stick or skewer into each of the apples. Add the water, sugar and vinegar into a pan. Keep stirring while bringing to the boil. You will need to get the liquid very hot, around 150C. One way of knowing if the liquid is hot enough is after 5-10 minutes drop a small amount of the liquid into a container of cold water, if it hardens its hot enough. Now take the apples and cover with the mixture. This can be done by rolling each apple around the pan until covered. Place on the baking tray and leave until the liquid on the apples hardens.Orange Filled Pumpkin Biscuits

One thing that will get the kids smiling are these wonderful pumpkin shaped biscuits. It's an excellent Halloween cookie recipe, they are easy to make and taste great. Just bake a couple of hours before serving otherwise they go soft.

Ingredients

140g soft butter 175g plain flour 50g sugar Zest 1 orangeFilling

2 tbsp of either orange, pineapple or strawberry jamMethod

Mix all the ingredients together until you have a soft dough, you can either use a mixer or wooden spoon to do this. Roll into a ball and wrap in cling film before placing in the fridge for about an hour. Preheat the oven to 180C or gas mark 4. Lightly flour a work surface then roll out the dough. You want the dough to be about 4mm thick. With a cutter cut out circles or if you have a pumpkin shaped cookie cutter all the better! Whatever you use make sure the cookies are 7cms. When you have the cookies count them then half them. The reason for that is because on half of the cookies you are going to put faces on them with the other half being the cookie base. With a sharp knife create the faces on half the cookies. Bake them all for 15 minutes or until light brown before removing and cooling on a wire rack. Once cool take your preferred jam, spoon it into a small container and mix quickly with a fork. Spoon the jam onto the bottoms of the biscuits then gently push the face cookie on top. Don't worry if a little bit of jam squashes through the eyes and mouth as it will add to the Halloween effect. Serve immediately as they will go soft if left. Oh and if you don't serve them straightaway you could end up eating them yourself! Before you send the kids out into the cold night air trick or treating why not serve them these delicious snacks? Doritos or corn chips are the preferred snack here along with a homemade dip and washed down with a juicy smoothie.

Corn Chips with Bloody Snot Dip

Ingredients

8oz cream cheese ¼ cup chives 2 slices of ham ¼ green pepper ¼ red pepperYou will also need corn chips or Doritos but why not make your own? They are simple to make, just look online for corn chip recipes.

Method

Chop up the ham, chives and peppers into small pieces then put into a blender with the cream cheese. Blend until creamy then serve with the chips.Bloody Entrails Smoothie

To get this smoothie just right the key is not to completely blend everything until smooth, instead blend until almost blended but you can still see pieces of the banana and strawberries. A perfect start to the trick or treating night along with the chips.

Ingredients

500g strawberries 1 banana 175ml natural yoghurt 1tbsp honeyMethod

Take the tops of the strawberries then put in the blender. Remove the jacket of the banana cut into slices and add to the blender. Add the other ingredients then blend until almost creamy. Serve in a glass.Halloween is a special time of year for all and sundry including the kids who just love this time of year, so why not serve up some wonderful and delicious Halloween snacks for kids? They are simple to make and delicious to eat, just watch out for the adults who will love your tasty Halloween snacks too.

Healthy Eating: Recipes for Kids

If you are trying to focus on healthy eating, recipes for kids can be a great way to improve the health of your family. Kids can be very picky, so it can be difficult to help them eat healthy foods. This article is going to provide you with some recipes that are kid-friendly.

One of the best aspects of choosing foods that your children will like is making sure that they are meals that the kids can help prepare. The kids will take pride in their work when they spend time in the kitchen helping to prepare the meal, set the table, etc. And they will be more likely to eat their food. Here are a few kid-friendly meal ideas:

Cookie Recipes For Kids

1. Munchies
Kids love finger foods, so putting together a big tray of snack style foods work great. Make sure that all of the foods are healthy, and they will have fun while they are eating good food! Some ideas for your munchies are: a veggie tray with celery sticks, carrots, cucumbers, broccoli, dip, etc; baked "French fries" (thinly sliced potatoes, lightly seasoned and baked on a cookie sheet); sliced fruit; crackers and hummus; etc.

2. Spaghetti "Worms"
Give any dish a fun name and the kids will enjoy it! Cook whole wheat spaghetti, add extra pureed veggies into the sauce, and call it worms. Your kids will have fun with the game and they will be eating healthier food at the same time.

3. Pita Pocket Pizza
Using whole grain pita pockets, make pizza pockets by filling the insides with pizza toppings. Add a little bit of marinara sauce, then stuff them full of vegetables and sprinkle some cheese on top. Wrap the pockets in foil and bake them until the cheese melts.

Using a little bit of creativity can help add some fun into any healthy meal. As you are eating, talk with your kids about the benefits of healthy eating and help them to understand the importance of taking care of their health.

Catfish Pro Tips - Catfish Chum Bait Recipes For the Mentally Deranged

Catfish chum stink bait attracts loads of catfish thanks to their hyper-sensitive sense of smell. It's also a great way to render certain kitchen appliances, if not the entire kitchen itself, unusable for days if not forever. Here are some particularly obnoxious stink bait recipes.

Put a gallon of chicken innards, two gallons of spoiled milk, two cans of condensed milk, a gallon of blood (from a local butcher), several pounds of corn meal and a little garlic in a five-gallon bucket. Punch a small hole in the lid. Bury in a sunny location for three to four weeks.

Cookie Recipes For Kids

Put five pounds of old cheese, cut into chunks, into a five-gallon bucket. Add enough hot water so that you can mash the cheese into a paste. Puree three pounds of chicken liver, with plenty of blood, in a blender; add chicken liver puree to cheese paste in bucket. (If you have any catfish guts leftover from cleaning fish, you can add those to the liver puree.) Secure an airtight lid; squeeze sides of bucket to express extra air so the fermentation gases will have room to expand. Place outside in the sun for three days, or up to five days if you're really brave. In order to tell whether the mixture is ready, stick your head in the bucket and take a big whiff. If you don't vomit, it needs to sit in the sun for a few more days. Once it reaches that point, mix in enough flour so that it becomes dough. Try not to hurl from the smell of this catfish chum. You can put it on your hook or pour it into a pantyhose leg to attract fish.

Put cut shad in a jar and let it sit in the sun all day. Pour dry gourmet cat food and one can of shrimp pellets into a bowl, then add enough water so that it reaches halfway up the mound of cat food and shrimp pellets. Pour in only the blood from three one-pound tubs of chicken livers. Let this mixture sit in the refrigerator overnight, assuming your spouse won't kill you. The mixture will absorb all the liquid overnight and become mushy. Puree the shad in a blender until it is completely liquefied. Now mix the shad puree with the cat food concoction. Add one cup of cornmeal and let the mixture sit for three hours. Then add just a pinch of corn starch at a time until you reach the consistency that will allow the mixture to stay on a hook.

Mix one can of tuna, two cups of vinegar and a whole bottle of garlic salt. Add a pinch of salt, some pickle juice, two green olives and some of the olive juice. Puree in blender while adding American cheese, one cup of milk and some moldy bread. Now cook the mixture in a large pot until it boils. Pour a little milk on top when it's done. Let it sit out until you toss your cookies when you smell it.

Mix two cups of beef blood, one-half cup of Parmesan cheese, one can of moist seafood cat food and two cups of corn flakes. Add flour until it makes a giant dough ball.

Mix one cup of Wheaties, two tablespoons of sardine oil, one teaspoon of shrimp paste, one cup of milk, one packet of Kraft macaroni and cheese powder, several chunks of Limburger cheese, some goldfish food and some flour in a large container. Put container outside in direct sunlight for three days.

Mix shrimp, ground beef, garlic, crawfish oil, fish innards and cheese in a large bowl. Add enough water so that mixture is not too thin to drip through pantyhose. Put mixture in pantyhose, tie off ends, and place in a sealed bottle in the sun for a month or until it stinks to high heaven, whichever comes first. Open the bottle every night to release air pressure from expanding gasses.

These wonderfully putrid catfish chum recipes also come in handy if you need a divorce or want your in-laws to leave! For more great information about catfishing tips and catfishing rigs, visit the blog link.

How To Get Rid Of Pimples In 5 Easy Steps

Looking to get rid of pimples? Here are 5 foods that will give you acne. Stay away from these foods. Remember, foods that cause you to have acne breakouts are those that have inflammatory properties. Generally, these are foods high in sugar which cause the body to produce insulin, which in turn causes you to break out.

These acne-causing foods are often quite surprising. Why? Because many of these foods are indeed healthy foods. They have a lot of vitamins and minerals, and some are even high in anti-oxidants. However, these 5 foods all have something in common: they have inflammatory properties.

Easy Cookie

Bananas

Can you believe it? Bananas are good for you but they are just too sweet. If you really like bananas then you might consider eating them in smaller portions, like only half or a third. Better yet, stay away from them to get rid of pimples.

Cookies

Stay away from cookies! Cookies are loaded with sugar and will cause you to breakout. Take a look at the cookie recipe on the back of a bag of chocolate chips. virtually everything in their is the enemy of your skin. It's mostly all sugar, both white and brown. There is also mostly flour, which also is inflammatory and causes acne.

Rice

This one is probably a bit of a surprise. Why is rice so bad? First of all, it is highly refined. Because there is no fiber in it (unless it's brown rice) it's mostly all sugar. Or it will turn into sugar after your stomach is done with it.

After the rice is metabolized in your body it will turn to sugar and then cause your insulin levels to rise. Then, after a day or two, you'll see some new pimples forming on your face. Stay away from rice to get rid of pimples.

French Fries

This one is a no-brainer. First of all, french fries are oily which causes acne breakouts. But even more, french fries are made from potatoes which have a very high sugar content. Your blood sugar will shoot up after munching down on some fries, causing and insulin surge and the resulting acne breakout.

Pancakes

This is one of my favorite foods. It's too bad that eating them causes acne breakouts. Think about what pancakes are: flour and water. We already know that flour is one of the most refined foods and basically turns into sugar after it is metabolized by the body. Stay away from pancakes to get rid of pimples.

Macroon Cookie Recipes

These macroon cookie recipes are delicious. Just check these out and I'm sure you'll be amazingly surprised.

So here we go for some macroon cookie recipes:

Easy Cookie Recipes For Kids

>>Sliced Almond Cookie

1 c sliced almonds chocolate bits; for topping

1 egg whites

1/3 c sugar

Preheat the oven to 300. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Stir together the egg white and sugar (I don't even use a mixer) and then stir in the almonds. Drop by teaspoon (they shouldn't be more than
2 inches in diameter) and top with a chocolate chip. Bake about 20 minutes until lightly browned. When you remove from the oven mash down the chocolate bit (it makes it look like a dab of icing) and let it cool before removing from sheet.

I use the same ingredients in the food processor and make balls out of the dough just over an inch in diameter. I flatten them slightly by pushing down drained maraschino cherry on top. I usually do double the recipe. I make these all year because they're so simple to make, everybody loves them and they are good for pesach.

>>Chewy Role Cookie Bar

1 pk yellow cake mix

1/2 c nuts, chopped

1/4 c butter, melted

2/3 c evaporated milk

36 role candy pieces, halved

Combine cake and nut meats in a medium bowl. Stir in evaporated milk and melted butter or margarine. Blend well. Spread half of cake mixture into a greased 9x13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Remove from oven.

Immediately place role pieces, cut side down, over hot crust. Drop remaining cake mixture by teaspoonfuls over role pieces. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until lightly browned. Cut in squares.

Decadent Dessert - White Chocolate Raspberry Cookies

Everyone loves cookies. They are small, portable, and sweet. White chocolate and raspberries seem to be made for each other. Why not combine them all and make white chocolate raspberry cookies? It may sound decadent, but you only live once, right? Close your eyes and imagine... the first bite. Your teeth break through the light crispness of the cookie and sink into the soft inner portion of the cookie.

The cookie bite fills your mouth with texture and flavor. The brightness of the raspberry bursts on your tongue, mixing sweetness with a touch of tartness. The creamy white chocolate takes over, mixing with the raspberry, smoothing it out. The crumbly cookie adds in a wonderful chewy texture. Sounds wonderful, does not it? It makes you want to run right out to the store and get the ingredients so you can mix up a batch right now.

Easy Cookie

It may be unusual to use fresh fruit in a cookie recipe, but why not do it? The raspberries add a uniqueness to this recipe that you do not normally find in a cookie made with dried fruits. You might be able to use frozen raspberries, but they may end up being too soggy. Fresh is best. They will be in season before you know it. Look at your local farmer's market or roadside farm stand for the best raspberries. If you can stop yourself from eating them all before you get home, make the cookies. Serve them with tea, vanilla ice cream or just enjoy them on their own. They would be perfect for a tea party, a shower, potluck, or other get together. You can even increase the decadence and add some macadamia nuts if you really want to push the envelope. Everyone will want your recipe, so go ahead and make a few copies and keep them with you. Once everyone tastes these cookies, you will be the one everyone turns to for great cookies.

Recipe for White Chocolate Raspberry Cookies

Serve these colorful, rich cookies with tea for a real treat.

What You Need

8 Tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1 large egg 3/4 teaspoon vanilla 1 Tablespoon heavy cream 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 3/8 teaspoon salt 3 Tablespoons cornstarch 1-1/3 cups flour 4 to 5 ounces white chocolate, broken into small chunks 1/2 cup fresh raspberries, washed and dried

How to Make It

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

Cream both sugars and the butter together with your mixer. Beat in the egg, the vanilla, and cream. Mix in salt, baking soda, and cornstarch. Add flour and stir in until just blended. Fold in white chocolate chunks.

Using tablespoons, drop dough onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper.

Slice raspberries in half or in quarters, depending on how much you want to add to each cookie and the size of the raspberries. Gently press the raspberry pieces into your cookie dough.

Bake in the oven for 12-13 minutes. Transfer finished cookies to a wire rack for cooling.

Dr. Seuss Inspired Recipes - Your Kids Will Love These

What child doesn't grow up with Dr. Seuss books? We have quite a few of them lying around the house. The kids love the silly characters and the rhymes. The Dr. Seuss inspired recipes that I'm about to share with you have been a great hit in my house. Of course the famous green eggs and ham are included, but there are also quite a few other snack and meal ideas. Create a fun Dr. Seuss inspired afternoon with some of these recipes and of course don't forget to read a few of the books with your kids. (If you don't own any, enjoy a trip to your local library.)

Green Eggs and Ham

Easy Cookie Recipes For Kids

This has to be the most famous Dr. Seuss inspired dish. Scramble a few eggs, add a couple of drops of blue food coloring to the mixture and cook as usual. You can serve a warmed up slice of ham with it, and if you want to go all out, brush the ham with a little green food coloring.

My kids love either biscuits, or mashed potatoes with this dish. Add a little food coloring (either green, or a complimentary color like red) to the biscuit dough or the finished mashed potatoes for even more fun.

Cat in The Hat Snack

Make the Cat's Hat for a fun snack. All you need is a few Ritz crackers, gummy lifesavers (preferably in white/clear and red) and a little vanilla frosting. Put the Ritz cracker on a plate. Use a little bit of vanilla frosting to glue the first lifesaver on the cracker. "Glue" more lifesavers on top of the first one alternating between red and white.
These snacks are so cute; you may want to take a picture of your child's creation before it is devoured.

Wiggly Fish

This snack was inspired by "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish". Prepare several different colors of Jello according to package directions and pour each flavor into a shallow pan. Use a fish shaped cookie cutter to cut the Jello into fish shapes. (If you don't have a fish shaped cookie cutter you could also just cut fish shapes with a knife.) You can also add small pieces of fruit to the Jello mixture before it cools. This is a great way to sneak an extra serving of fruit into your child's diet.

Pink Ink for The Yink

The Yink in "One Fish, Two Fish" love to drink pink ink. Make your own version by combining a few strawberries (either fresh, or frozen and thawed) and some milk in a blender. Add a few drops of red food coloring if the "ink" isn't pink enough.

A Fruity Hat For The Cat

How about this for a fun Sunday breakfast? Whip up a batch of silver dollar pancakes and cut up some fresh strawberries. Grab some whipped cream and let the kids assemble the Cat's hat by stacking pancakes, and strawberries on top of each other using the whipped cream as "glue".

Enjoy a few of these Dr. Seuss inspired snacks and meals with your family, or invite a few neighbor kids over for a Dr. Seuss party. Either way they are a lot of fun and a great way to bring some of the Seuss stories to life.

Quick And Easy Way To Home Package Cookies With These 8 Yummy Creative Ideas

You've spent the time and effort to bake your delicious homemade cookie gifts, now it's time to package them!

Don't spoil all your hard work with boring cookie boxes and packaging ideas.

Easy Cookie

You want cookie gifts that say "Yummy!" - Perception is everything!

First impressions are truly important. So it's unavoidable that you make a little effort to package your home-baked treats.

But where do you start? Here it is...

Theme:

Think about what the theme is for your cookie gift packages. For example, it is a birthday gift or for Christmas holiday giving? Perhaps it's for your Valentine? Use the theme on your packaging.

Ingredients:

What are the main flavors or the cookie ingredients you used? Apply this element to help enhance the aroma that you may want to portray on your cookie boxes or packages.

Protection:

Are your cookies fragile? Or do they need to be air-tight and stored in the fridge? Consider using for example, zip seal bags, if necessary.

Hygiene:

Always clean any used containers (or even store-bought new boxes) and dry before using.

When decorating your packages, be sure to use food safe items. Eg. Don't use glues where cookies may be in contact. Consider the point that your cookie gift recipient may not always be as careful as you when replacing cookies back into containers. Think from their viewpoint and see whether there is an alternative method for better hygiene.

With that said and done, here are your "8 Yummy Creative Package Ideas":

HOME-BAKED COOKIE PACKAGING IDEA 1:

"The Coffee Cup"

You may have seen a similar idea before, using a mug or coffee cup, but this is really a brilliant idea as people associate coffee cups with aroma.

Whether it be coffee or tea, this idea spells: 'Good times with a friend over a cup of coffee/tea and some sweets!'

- Pre-pack about 2 - 4 cookies in cellophane or sealed bag and place inside cup.
- Embellish with a gift tag and fabric ribbon around cellophane. (You can also write a message or recipient name on the mug).

HOME-BAKED COOKIE PACKAGING IDEA 2:

"Milk Carton"

This is perfect for butter cookies or packaging cookies for children. Either way, the milk carton makes a great packaging box.

- Wash and dry container before use. Carefully open the top without tearing the cardboard.

- Place cookies inside.

- Seal top with staples or strong sticky-tape. (Do not use glues as they are unhygienic and not re-openable.

- Decorate exterior with wrapping paper or fabric and ribbon.

If you are computer savvy, you could create a milk carton label with recipient name, theme graphics and colors to print and apply to your cookie carton!

Use one litre carton for giving to an entire family or a smaller carton for children or single recipients.

This is a great container for refrigerating your cookies also. Plus, the benefit is that the design of the carton semi-closes on its own with the folding techniques incorporated.

HOME-BAKED COOKIE PACKAGING IDEA 3:

"Peanut Butter Bottle"

Great for peanut butter cookies! The theme, feeling and association is already there! And you don't even need to worry about pealing the bottle stickers off. Use it instead to create a quirky cookie packaging.

Use a square piece of fabric almost twice as large as the lid size and cover cookies before closing with the lid to create instant effective packaging.

Create a label digitally and print out for a dynamic gift. You don't have to cover the entire glass or bottle, leave a bit of room so they can take a peek at the yummy cookies you baked.

HOME-BAKED COOKIE PACKAGING IDEA 4:

"Butter or Margarine Containers"

Unusual but very effective and fun. What's more, it has a lid and is lightweight for posting your cookies. Just keep in mind that most butter containers aren't air-tight.

You can decorate the exterior by creating your own labels, or sticking appropriate wrapping paper over. I recommend a food style, earthy tones and colors for this method.

Lastly, tie a ribbon around the package like you would a gift box. Large wide ribbons would give you a dazzling package.

Great for milk and butter cookies.

HOME-BAKED COOKIE PACKAGING IDEA 5:

"Milo or Food Tins (with lid)"

Tins come in all different sizes and are great for air-tight cookie storing. And you won't have to pre-package your cookies in bags first.

Ideal for cookies that do not need to be refrigerated.

Also makes a great cookie gifting idea for boys or men.

You can even etch in writing or graphics onto the tin if you have the proper tools and use correct safety precautions.

HOME-BAKED COOKIE PACKAGING IDEA 6:

"Candy or Chocolate Boxes"

Candies and cookies go hand in hand! These are little treats that the whole world love!

- Place your cookies lying flat into the box. You may need to take out the pre-made mould shapes used and use cardboard dividers to separate your cookies.
- Simply tie with ribbon and gift tag the package!

HOME-BAKED COOKIE PACKAGING IDEA 7:

"Cocktail or Martini Glass"

Great for alcohol-based cookies like rum balls during Christmas season!

- Place one cookie or two in cellophane, seal and place inside glass.
- Seal glass with clear food wrapping. Add ribbon and gift tag on glass stalk.

HOME-BAKED COOKIE PACKAGING IDEA 8:

"Tea Box"

Use small aroma infusion tea packaging boxes - usually ones that have only 10 tea-bags in each box. You can pack 2 to 3 cookies in each box and give more than one tea box for fun.

- Seal cookies with cellophane or food bag first and place inside decorated tea boxes.

Why not leave one tea bag in front of your cookies? It's a perfect invitation to a relaxing snack with a drink.

If you do not have any of these containers handy, you can easily buy them and transfer contents to other containers. Just make sure that it's well washed and that most of the original scents are gone (except in the case such as the peanut butter bottles).

Not only are these 8 Yummy Ideas creative and fun, they also bring out the aroma of your delicious homemade cookies.

Start using these mouth-watering cookie packaging ideas. It's a sure way that your cookies will be eaten instantly!

Vegan Holiday Baking - Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

Soft, spicy, and generously sized, these decadent vegan Christmas cookies are the perfect holiday treat or an ideal finale to your vegan holiday feast.

Vegan egg-replacement options

Cookie Recipes For Kids

If you're new to vegan baking, you may be wondering how to work around the eggs that most baking recipes call for. The answer is finding the right egg substitute for the dish you're creating. In non-vegan recipes eggs are generally used to either provide leavening or act as a binder, or both. Vegan egg substitutes do the same, but different substitutes provide differing degrees of binding and leavening. Any of the vegan egg replacements listed below will work well in these cookies.

Ener-G Powdered Egg Replacer, available on-line and in many health food stores. Highly recommended. Banana, mashed. Half a banana equals one egg. Applesauce and baking powder. 1/4 cup applesauce mixed with 1/2 tsp baking powder equals one egg. Cornstarch and baking powder. One heaping Tbs. cornstarch and a small pinch of baking powder mixed with two Tbs. water equals one egg.

One of the best things about these cookies is that they store very well - in fact, they actually get better if they're made in advance. For optimal flavor, make these cookies a day or so in advance and store in an air-tight container until you're ready to serve.

Ingredients:

1 cup Nucoa or Butter-Flavored Crisco

2 cups white sugar

2 "eggs" (see vegan egg-replacement options above)

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 15 ounce can pumpkin pie filling (for a less sweet cookie, use a can of pumpkin puree)

4 cups flour

1 1/2 tsp baking soda

1 1/2 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

1 tsp cinnamon

Pinch ground nutmeg

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (the cheapest available are usually dairy-free)

Have two greased cookie sheets ready. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Put shortening and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Using an electric beater, cream until smooth. Beat in "eggs." Stir in vanilla and pumpkin until well blended.

Combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg in another mixing bowl. Stir into the pumpkin mixture. Add chocolate chips.

Drop eight round tablespoons of dough onto each cookie sheet. Cookies will spread as they bake. Bake 10-12 minutes, or until edges begin to brown. Let cookies stand for a few minutes before removing from baking sheets to cool completely.

Re-grease sheets and repeat baking process. Store in air-tight containers until ready to serve.

National Cookie Day - Time to Celebrate

Just when you thought you had heard of all the lesser known holidays, someone invents another one. While you likely won't find any cards at your local Hallmark, there are a few people out there who celebrate National Cookie Day. This obscure cookie holiday occurs every year on December 4. In deference to the cookie, here is a little history on this venerable dessert treat.

The English word "cookie" is derived from the Dutch word "koekje," which means little cake. Bakers used to place a small amount of cake batter in the oven to test the temperature. They soon discovered that these little bits of cooked batter were quite tasty on their own, and the cookie was born!

Easy Cookie

The humble cookie has evolved a lot since then, and now there are hundreds of varieties baked across the world every day, from the classic chocolate chip to more exotic offerings with caramel, macadamia nuts, dried fruits and more. Cookies can be broadly classified into 3 categories. First are "drop" cookies. These are aptly named because the batter is dropped onto the cookie sheet. Chocolate chip, peanut butter, and oatmeal raisin are all examples of drop cookies. Second are "rolled" cookies. Rolled cookies are rolled out like pie dough, and then cut-out using a cutter. Sugar cookies are the most popular rolled cookies, followed closely by gingerbread. Rolled cookies may also be "rolled up" into a cylinder and then sliced off and baked. Rolled cookies bake up firmer and flatter than drop cookies, and are therefore ideal for personalizing with icing and other toppings. Third are pressed cookies. For pressed cookies, the dough is loaded into a cookie press, and then extruded, typically using various dies to create interesting shapes. Spritz cookies are the most common pressed cookie variety. Some also consider bars and brownies as a fourth cookie variety, since the ingredients are very similar, and the resultant treats are typically cut into single serving sizes.

Cookies are a multi-billion dollar industry in the US, ranging from packaged cookies at the grocery store to fresh-baked cookies at the mall, and even Internet bakeries that ship direct to your or your gift recipients. So this year when December 4 comes around, remember this humble little cake by munching on one or by sending a cookie gift to your loved ones.

Home Made Ice Cream Recipe for Coffee Can Ice Cream

The very best thing about having birthday cake is the ice cream that goes along with it. This delicious home made ice cream recipe can be made with a few simple ingredients and a couple of coffee cans.

Learn how to make your own yummy blend! It's so easy to make and fun to eat! A great hands-on kids party activity!

Cookie Recipes For Kids

There's always room for ice cream. (That's my motto!)

Home Made Ice Cream
Recipe

1 lb. Coffee Can

3 lb. Coffee Can

1/2 cup Rock salt

1 pint Half and Half

1 1/2 tsps. Vanilla

1/3 cup + 2 tblsps. Sugar

For flavored ice cream, choose one:

3 tblsps. of your favorite flavor of instant pudding

1/3 cup of fruit (such as, bananas, strawberries, peaches)

3 of your favorite cookies, crushed into pea-size pieces

1/4 cup finely chopped nuts

METHOD:

Mix the first three basic ingredients together and pour into the one pound coffee can. Add flavorings if desired. Place the lid on securely and set inside the three pound can.

Add ice, and alternate layers of ice and salt outside the small can and inside the large can. When totally full, secure the lid on the large can. You may wish to add duct tape for good measure.

Now here comes the fun part! Place a sheet on the floor or wrap the can in a large towel. Let party guests roll the can back and forth for at least 10 minutes. Open the cans and check the ice cream.

If it is not starting to freeze, replace lids and roll 10 minutes more. The ice cream should be frozen to the sides and bottom of the can. If not thick enough, place in freezer and check every 10 minutes or so.

YIELD: 2 cups ice cream

Note: This recipe can be effected by temperature,
humidity, and other environmental factors, so make a trial run before attempting
in a group setting.

Creative Cookie Ideas

Tired of the same old chocolate chip or oatmeal raisin cookies? Are you looking for something more creative? I'll admit, a typical batch of fresh chocolate chip cookies wins me over every time. At the same time, I'm always open to trying new foods and like to sample different things whenever I can. I'm going to share a few really creative cookie ideas with you, as some of these may appeal to you.

One thing you can do is to try making cookies with cake mix. You'll find that the cookies actually crack as they flatten. These are delicious, and you can choose your cake mix flavor.

Cookie Recipes For Kids

Another idea is to make or buy some peanut butter cookie dough. From there, prepare the dough and place them in the oven. Once the cookies come out, make a small hole inside the cookies and place a reese's peanut butter cup inside each one. I think you'll get the idea from there.

Like white chocolate? Then you'll probably like the idea of some nice, fresh oatmeal white chocolate cranberry cookies. These are delicious, and I always have friends asking me to make these again.

The last one I'll suggest is adding cherry and butter toffee to your cookie mix. Throw in some chocolate chips, and you'll have a sweet recipe with a lot of flavor.

Have any cookie ideas of your own? Try combining some with any of these elements and you'll have more creative cookie ideas for yourself. Enjoy your recipes!

One of the most well known and enjoyable types of Halloween decorations is a Jack O'Lantern, carved from a pumpkin. Of course, once you have carved a handful of pumpkins into scary masterpieces that you can display around your home, you are left with a lot of pumpkin flesh - this means it is time to get cooking some pumpkin Halloween treats. Some of the best Halloween recipes that are a great way to use this leftover pumpkin are for pies, soups, cookies and muffins.

Apples are another popular Halloween food item, because they are in season then too. Toffee apples are wonderful Halloween treats, and bobbing for apples makes a great game at your Halloween themed party that all the kids will love. Cookies are always a favorite treat, and you can create some creepy cookies for your Halloween party. The type of cookie mixture doesn't need to be anything fancy, the fun comes from using Halloween themed cookie cutters, such as bats, ghosts or Jack O'Lanterns, or just letting your imagination run wild and creating your own free hand designs. Food coloring adds a truly frightening finishing touch to the icing on these Halloween treats.

Halloween Tricks - or Treats?

It doesn't matter whether you are choosing which types of Halloween treats and drinks you want to serve at your Halloween party, or are trying to decide what sort of treats you are going to dish out to the miniature monsters and small spooks that turn up at your door, there are a lot of fun Halloween recipes that you can wrap up and give away as Halloween party favors, or rewards for not having any tricks played on you.

For example, a great idea for treats for your Halloween themed party is to make popcorn ghosts. Just use your favorite popcorn ball recipe, and shape them into ghostly shapes. There is no need to spend a lot of money on Halloween treats, and it can be easy to create some monstrous munchies with a little imagination. You can add your own hint of Halloween to almost anything to create devilish drinks and gruesome goodies.
