Recipe For Fun - How to Make Popcorn Cookies
| Recipe For Fun - How to Make Popcorn Cookies
Eating popcorn and a brownie during a concert intermission last week, I remember commenting to my friend about how much fun it was to eat fresh popped popcorn. That's when I remembered a cookie recipe one of my neighbors shared with me just a few months ago. A woman sitting at our table smiled while my friend and I spoke. With a smile, our new friend asked for the recipe I had spoken about, popcorn cookies. |
|
When I first heard the name, "popcorn cookies," it sounded like a recipe for fun. Listening carefully for the specific list of ingredients, I made a mental note to self, "This is important." The four ingredients are: Cap'n Crunch's Peanut Butter Crunch, Kellogg's Rice Krispies, Planters' Unsalted Dry Roasted Peanuts and Almond Bark. "Just melt the almond bark in the microwave. Then remove from the microwave and stir in the other ingredients. Afterwards, drop the cookie mixture onto waxed paper to cool," she said confidently with a smile. I remember thinking, "That's it?" Only four ingredients were needed to make a crunchy sweet and salty snack to whet our appetites before dinner. After eating a few samples of the popcorn cookies, I had complete confidence I had heard one of the best cookie secrets ever shared. Determined to stir up a batch of popcorn cookies for the holidays, I went to the grocery store with my recipe in hand as well as my digital camera. Just thinking about the ingredients triggered multiple recipe variations using the popcorn cookie concept. The first batch of popcorn cookies I make will be for those who like to eat peanut butter and the second batch can be altered for those who are not able to eat peanut butter. Of course, there are other snack items that can be substituted for the peanut butter flavor. The possibilities are unlimited. Author John Ortberg said, "If you want to walk on water, you've got to get out of the boat." Pour your ideas out onto a piece of paper just like you pour cereal into a bowl. You might be surprised when you realize unique ways to think outside of the boat and the cereal box. Recipe For Fun - How to Make Popcorn Cookies |

A Quick and Easy Cupcake Recipe
| A Quick and Easy Cupcake Recipe
Cupcakes are the perfect dessert for any occasion. They can make an event feel extra special, they can provide for a wonderful baking experience if one takes some additional time to really find some unique refined ingredients, and they can even be something one adds to the list of hobbies he or she enjoys doing alone or with others. Cupcakes can be made anytime of the day for any event. They are always welcome additions. |
|
In addition cupcakes are great desserts because they can be made in such a great variety of ways. One batch of eight to twelve cupcakes baked in one fell swoop can be decorated in such an individualistic manner that one might think they were made in completely separate batches. Because so many can be made in one batch, one person can decorate all the cupcakes or several people can work away at putting the final touches on these wonderful treats!
And, across the board, from children to the elderly, cupcakes are loved. Children rush to gobble them down and the older folks' eyes tend to light up when a freshly made tray is brought home or completed in their kitchens.
Cupcakes awaken one's cooking and creative senses and skills and make for fun projects that one will never tire of. Essentially, one can keep creating more and more recipes and still never come up with all the possible combinations! So have fun and enjoy! To make 12 normal size cupcakes cream 200 grams of softened butter with 200 grams of fine sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Gradually beat in 4 eggs, and then fold in 200 grams of self raising flour, along with a dash of milk if needed. Spoon the mixture into paper cases in a muffin pan, and bake for 15 to 25 minutes at approx 350 degrees, or until they are risen and firm to touch. Leave to cool on a wire rack and then ice with your favorite frosting, or drizzle with jam. A Quick and Easy Cupcake Recipe |

It starts off with a layer of buttery crust, then accented with the nutty taste of pecans and finally topped off with a delicious layer of chocolate. Once they are cooled and cut into bars, you will want to store them in an airtight container. Crust Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour
Caramel Layer Ingredients: 2/3 cup butter, softened
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the all-purpose flour, brown sugar and softened butter until creamy and fluffy. Press the crust ingredients inside a 13 x 9" baking pan. Sprinkle the pecan halves evenly over the crust. For The Caramel Layer: In a large mixing bowl (you can reuse the first bowl), cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until creamy. Pour mixture into a 2 quart saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly until it boils; remove from heat. Pour this mixture over top the pecan layer in your baking pan. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 16 to 18 minutes or until done. Remove the baking dish from the oven and immediately sprinkle the milk chocolate chips over top so that they melt. Molasses Cookie Recipe - Simple Steps
| Molasses Cookie Recipe - Simple Steps
Before starting, you need to make sure you have the following items in your kitchen. They include, butter, sugar and egg. Other than these check if you have cookie flour, soda, salt, ginger and other stuff you would like to add to your cookies. |
|
To start with, you need to mix butter and sugar with egg. Then you need to add molasses with it. Once you get a fine mixture, you can start adding the other stuff like baking soda, salt, ginger etc. These are no way different from the conventional items you would add to make any kind of cookies. In fact, this list would vary depending on your preference. For example some would like to add more salt with others would add only a little. These small things can bring lot of difference in the final taste of cookies. Then you need to heat the paste in a oven till it becomes golden brown. Now you can roll them in white sugar. Following this you can place the cookies on baking sheet. Then you need to place the cookies rolled with white sugar in the oven. Set the temperature levels. Modern ovens have predetermined settings for baking cookies. If you are unsure of the temperature level you need to set, you can just set it to the default level given for cookies and relax. Generally it would take around 15 minutes for cookies to get their crispy nature. Now its done. You have cookies ready which you are going to love and so would your kids. Cookie Recipe Using Quinoa Flour
Why do bakers and homemakers alike love using quinoa flour? Well simply because it adds chewiness and nutty flavor to baked goodies and for some reason, the end product seems to be really moist. Now don't you love that as well? I do!
What I love about quinoa is its high-protein content and because of its gained popularity, people have come up with thousands of delicious recipes and quinoa-derived products like cereal and flour. It can either be made from milled or unmilled grains and the color is usually creamy yellow or ivory. Quinoa is gluten-free so this is perfect for people with gluten intolerance. If you are purchasing processed quinoa products make sure it has the "gluten-free" markings otherwise it can be contaminated.
Cookie Recipes For Kids
I like the quinoa crispy cookies and for this recipe you will need:
1 cup quinoa flour
¾ cup quinoa flakes
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup honey
½ cup butter
½ cup almond butter
½ tsp vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup chopped walnuts/pecans (or any nut that you prefer)
Mix together honey, brown sugar, butter, nut butter and vanilla. Make sure it turns out to be creamy. In a separate bowl, combine quinoa flour, quinoa flakes and baking soda. Add the dry mixture to the cream mixture and beat until everything is well blended. Add nuts and drop rounded teaspoons of the cookie mixture about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake it for 12-15 minutes at 350 degrees F. Let the cookies cool for at least 2 minutes before removing them from the sheet. Makes about 3 dozen small cookies. Enjoy!

Oatmeal Carrot Raisin Cookie Recipe
Cookies have been around for many centuries. There are many different versions from the early days of baking. They have evolved from what were then called flat "twice" baked biscuits, or savory biscuits. Many different cultures and civilizations have tried the art of cookie baking. Some were more of a hard flat bread, which eventually turned into more of a pastry type of bread or cookie. Then it became more of a light to fluffy biscuit, and then into the smaller bite size bar like a Madeline, and or a type of drop cookie that we are familiar with today. Some of their efforts were savory, and some turned out to be sweet creations. I credit the Germans and the French for getting us to the sweeter side of things that have developed into the sweet cookies of our day.
In the current day we have bar cookies, drop cookies, refrigerated cookies, rolled cookies, and a few more. I think that the most popular are the drop cookies. The drop cookie was made very popular from the Tollhouse Company, by the development of the chocolate chip cookie. The Quaker Company has also helped in this effort to create a rolled oats cookie. They are both a very popular treat with many people all over the country.
Easy Cookie Recipes For Kids
I have created an oatmeal cookie recipe that I hope that you will enjoy. This is a recipe for an oatmeal carrot cookie. It is a little healthier treat than most sweet desserts, and it tastes great if you are an oatmeal cookie fan. This is an easy recipe, and does not take too much time, and it would be fun to prepare with your children.
Ingredients you will need:
1 1/4 Cup of grated carrots
1 Cup of whole wheat flour
1/2 Cup of Raisins
1/2 Cup of I can't believe it is not butter
1/2 Cup of packed brown sugar
1/2 Cup of quick oats
2 Eggs medium size
1/2 Teaspoon of cinnamon and a good vanilla bean paste
1/4 Teaspoon of nutmeg
1/4 Cup of warm water
1 Teaspoon of baking powder
1 Tablespoon of confectioners sugar
Non Stick Spray
First you will preheat your oven to 350 if it is electric and about 325F if it is gas. If you have convection fan turn it off during the baking. It will cause too much browning, and more than likely burn these cookies. You will want to go ahead a spray your baking pan, so you are ready to go directly into the pan after mixing all of the ingredients. I recommend a square or rectangular pan for these cookies.
In a mixing bowl you will add the warm water not hot water, the margarine, and the brown sugar, and the vanilla bean paste, and mix them together. You will then add your eggs and beat it well, and mix with the sugar mixture. You will then add your carrots and raisins, and nutmeg and cinnamon, and mix well.
In a separate bowl you will add the flour, oatmeal and baking powder and mix well. Once all of the dry are mixed together you will add the wet to the dry and mix well.
Pour into non stick pan or sprayed pan and bake for about 20 to 25 minutes. You will turn about halfway through the baking process in the oven to ensure even baking. Remove from the oven and let cool, and sprinkle with the confectioners sugar. When they are cool cut them into bars.

Kid Lunch Recipe Ideas - Looking For a New Twist on Tuna Salad?
Does your child love tuna? If so, and you're tired of making yet another ordinary tuna salad sandwich what about making up some fun tuna swirls, muffins, pasta salad and 'Sunflower' twist on your standard tuna salad recipe?
Here are some of my favorite ways to serve up tuna in a kid lunch:
Cookie Recipes For Kids
Tuna Swirls
Ingredients
1 can tuna, drained
2 tbsp. mayo
1/2 small onion, chopped
1 sweet pickle, chopped
splash of lemon juice
3 slices of whole grain bread
dab of butter or margarine
Combine tuna, mayo, onion, pickle and lemon juice in a bowl. (Can be prepared the night before and refrigerated.)
Cut the crust of the bread. Gently flatten each slice with a rolling pin. (Don't roll too hard or you may tear the bread.)
Spread a thin layer of the tuna mixture on the bread. Roll up. Spread a little butter or margarine on the seam to seal it.
Tuna Melt Muffins
Ingredients
1 can tuna, drained
2 tbsp. mayo
1 cup chopped pickles
1/4 cup medium cheese, grated
1 English muffin, split in half and toasted
Combine tuna, mayo, pickles and cheese. Spread on one side of a toasted English muffin and top with other side to make a sandwich. Let cool. Wrap up in plastic or seal in a container.
You can also make the tuna mixture the night before, cover and refrigerate until morning when you can assemble into a tuna melt muffin sandwich.
Tuna Sunflowers
Ingredients
1 can tuna, drained
1/2 cup shelled sunflower seeds
1 small onion, chopped
1/2 tsp. basil, dried
1/2 cup yogurt, plain
2 slices of whole grain bread
Combine tuna, sunflower seeds, onion, basil and yogurt. Cool mixture long enough for it to set (approx. 20 minutes).
Using a flower shaped cookie cutter, cut out a flower from each slice of bread. Spread the mixture on one half. Top with the second half.
If you have a small circular cookie cutter you may wish to cut out the middle of one slice so you can have an open middle and the sandwich when assembled looks like a sunflower.
Tuna Pasta Salad
Ingredients
2 eggs, hard cooked, chopped
1 cup broccoli florets, chopped
1 tomato, chopped
2 cups shelled pasta
1 can tuna, drained
1/2 cup red bell pepper, chopped
1/2 cup green onions
1/4 cup ranch dressing
Combine ingredients. Toss to coat. Pack in containers and refrigerate.
